Future Fit tutor, John-Paul Akehurst shares his fitness story and how his career progressed into becoming a Personal Trainer tutor for Future Fit Training.
After studying Sport Science at Nottingham Trent University and furthering his studies by completing his Masters Degree in Sports Biomechanics at Loughborough, John-Paul decided that moving into the fitness industry was a fantastic opportunity. He completed his personal training qualification and was picked up to move into teaching the qualifications straight away due to his wide range of experience. John-Paul has not always been interested in the fitness element of sports but once he was bitten by the bug, he has never looked back. The industry is awe-inspiring due to the people that work in it to continue to strive to expand its boundaries; along with these people, the fantastic clients who are driven to achieve their goals and change their lifestyles for the better are the reason he is still working in fitness.

Best piece of advice
“Don’t limit your challenges, challenge your limits” delivery of the qualifications is paramount, but what makes the difference between you and the next person is YOU!
Something personal about you
After being diagnosed with cancer and fighting through it, I realised that life is too short to not follow your dreams! Never worry about what other people say or think about you or your choices. A lot of people often say “I wish I was in the fitness industry as I don’t like my job but I love the fitness industry and I wish I could change my career”. It is never too late, Stop Wishing and Start Doing!
