Course Overview

This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to safely and effectively train clients during and after pregnancy.

This is a very popular course as it gains students 8 CIMSPA points and is applicable for a higher number of courses. The e-learning is delivered to the highest standard based on the very latest research. This is a very interactive course.

Entry requirements

The prerequisites for this course are a minimum of either:

  • Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing or ETM
  • Level 3 Certificate in Advanced Fitness Instructing or Personal Training
  • Level 3 Certificate in Pilates or equivalent Programmes can only be provided in the discipline that the student is qualified.

Included Training

The course is split between prenatal exercise and postnatal exercise. Through engaging and interactive e-learning, the course will cover pre and postnatal exercise theory, as well as exercise programming and assessments.

Physiological changes and physical problems during pregnancy

This module includes knowledge of the physiological changes and physical problems and conditions during pregnancy.

Benefits and risks of exercise during pregnancy

This module covers the benefits and potential risks associated with exercise during pregnancy

Exercise Guidelines during pregnancy

This module includes the general and specific exercise guidelines for pregnancy, as well as guidelines for ETM and Pilates. There is also examples of gym porgammes and core training.

Post-natal exercise guidelines

This includes an introduction to post-natal exercise as well as the benefits and risks associated.

Preparing to exercise

This covers returning to exercise, and the guidelines and recommendations associated.

Safe exercising during pregnancy

This module answers the key questions associated with when exercise is safe, specifically when exercise is not advisable and other precautions to take when working with a prenatal client. This also considered nutrition during pregnancy.

Learning & Assessment

This course is comprised of an 8-10 hour course, followed by 3 weeks to complete the online lessons. It is highly recommended that students go through the course twice to fully understand and digest the topic.

Assessment Methods

The assessment consists of a case study (completed over a 4 week period). This also includes worksheets and programming. The final course evaluation should be written up once all the lessons have been completed.
