Once upon a time diabetes was a rare condition that happened to an unfortunate few. Now it is fast becoming the norm. There are an estimated 3.5 million people living with diabetes in the UK and a further 1 million who are thought to have undiagnosed diabetes. By 2040 it is expected that diabetes will affect 1 in 10 of us.
This means that a significant proportion of the clients you see could be suffering from diagnosed or undiagnosed diabetes plus many more will be at risk of developing the condition. As a health and fitness professional you are uniquely positioned to help these clients. This course will give you the knowledge and skills to do just that.
90% of those with diabetes have Type 2 diabetes, which is a preventable condition. Obesity is the most potent risk factor for Type 2 diabetes accounting for 80–85 per cent of the overall risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. For this reason supporting your clients to be more active and eat healthier has the potential to make a massive difference in their lives, whether they are already suffering from diabetes or at risk of developing it.
This 1 hour video course will provide you with an understanding of the different types of diabetes, along with their causes and symptoms and treatment. There will be particular focus on the prevention and management of metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes.

The overall deadline to complete all your courses will be dependent on the courses you have purchased. I signed up for the Total Immersion with Future Fit and so far have completed my Level 2 & 3 as well as many CPD courses, I just have some Level 4 courses left. Upon reflection of my training so far, I'm not sure that online learning is the best way to go as you don't get the hands-on experience that you really need to build confidence and I did feel a bot lost when I first started working in the industry. However, having said that I have always been very impressed with Future Fit prompt and reliable customer service.
