My name is Rebekka and I am a student of Level 4 nutrition and weight management with Future Fit Training. I first became interested in nutrition in 2019 when I was suffering from health problems that seemed to be caused by what I was eating – so I wanted to learn more about why. I am now training with Future Fit to pursue my passion for nutrition and helping educate people like myself; that food shouldn’t be feared or seen as just calories but used to fuel our bodies.
This year I have started my own business as an online nutrition coach and am aiming to help as many people as possible learn to eat well and stop the ridiculous FAD diets.
I have always been someone that was never happy with their weight. I went through my school/college years depriving myself of food or doing stupid diets after watching my Mum following programs like Weight Watchers and Slimming World.
In 2017 something bad happened to me and I ended up comforting-eating and binge eating myself into a bad relationship with food. By the end of 2017, I signed up for a gym to get myself out of the slump and feel better. This was great. This helped my mental health.
However, I then became obsessed with working out and fitness. I would push myself so hard and only eat if I knew I’d “earned” enough calories through workouts. I then felt very poorly towards the end of 2019 and was unable to exercise properly as I kept getting awful pains and not feeling well. Eventually, after 2 years they finally realised I had some severe gallstones. This was causing me a lot of pain which then made me so scared of the foods I was eating as fatty foods can set off gallbladder pains. It made me scared to eat anything and completely restrict my diet.
I decided at the end of 2020 that I wanted to study nutrition. I wanted to know about food so that I could use the knowledge to help myself not only get better but feel better mentally and be able to help others suffering like me.
This was when I found Future Fit.
I have been training with future-fit since January 2021 and I have loved it. The course is easy to access from both my laptop and my phone, the modules are so interesting and I’m loving learning about Nutrition and Weight Management. I am enjoying it so much that I have since signed up to do the Level 5 Nutrition Course in January 2022!
I particularly enjoyed the unit on calories and macros and learning how much food we as people are able to eat. I know a lot of women who are severely undereating thinking it will help them lose weight – when in reality eating more will help them to lose weight. This is one of my main selling points for my business – learning how to fix your metabolism and use food as fuel to lose weight.
So far in my journey, I have been most proud of facing my relationship with food head-on. Understanding the knowledge around food to help myself become free of binge-eating and restricting and allow me to eat more, but eat well! I now have no more issues with my eating and am able to use my knowledge to help myself tone up and gain strength in the gym!
My career highlights so far have been the fact that I have set up my own business that is not only thriving but is allowing me to help so many people to face their food fears and learn that eating carbohydrates and calories are ok and that nothing bad will happen! So far I have helped 15 people in the space of only 4 months (with 3 of them living in different countries around the world) to achieve their weight loss goals and free them of their nasty relationships with food!
In the future, I’m hoping to go full time self-employed with my business and grow and expand so I am able to help more people all over the world to have a better understanding and get rid of these stupid FAD diets!
Don’t let the fear of failing stop you from trying. The fitness industry is a growing area and there is a lot of competition – but as long as you are real with people and show them your own journey and struggles, people are more likely to connect with you and want to work with someone who is genuinely passionate!
