After going through her own body transformation, Nikki chose to study both Life Coaching and Nutrition, turning her passion for helping others into a career that works for her and her family.
My name’s Nikki Ryan, I went to university and studied a business degree and whilst I was at university, like a lot of students, I gained quite a lot of weight and I felt really lost. I didn’t know how to lose weight and I didn’t really know anything about nutrition, so I actually joined Slimming World and lost three stone in just over three months and then maintained it for about ten years. I decided to work for them and during my fourteen year career worked my way up to be an area manager and also a Gold Consultant. I had a really successful career helping people to lose weight.
I was very passionate about it and absolutely loved it, but after three rounds of IVF I finally became pregnant with my beautiful twin boys, Grayson and Lawson. After the twins I decided to step down from my management role and just keep my group so I could spend more time with the boys but after a while even that felt like really hard – I didn’t want to leave them. I was fortunate enough to be able to step away from work for a little bit, and just focus on being a full-time mum to the boys.
What I found was that after a few years of staying at home with my boys, I was loving family life but it felt like something was missing; I wanted to do something for me again.
I didn’t really feel like I was using my brain as much as I used to and I’d learned quite a bit along the way from doing a body transformation myself so I already knew the basics. You get training in nutrition from Slimming World so I already knew a lot but I felt like I needed a qualification to back up what I knew and to also extend my knowledge and my learning. I’m just really, really passionate about helping people but it was really important to me that if I ever went down the route of launching my own coaching business that it was somebody that was accredited and came recommended and that’s how I found Future Fit. They just felt like the perfect match and definitely matched my philosophies and my goals and where I wanted to take my learning.

That’s tough, I love loads of food! Probably it would have to be a healthy version of a curry and rice, or I love Mexican food. I also love a chilli. But if I had to choose one thing in the whole world it would probably be a roast chicken dinner!
That’s really difficult, I watch a lot of Netflix and I absolutely love a boxset. I don’t really relate to any one person in particular but I find that I’m drawn to very empowered, motivated, strong women. I like women that can kick ass.
Future Fit was recommended by lots of different people, so after doing some research that was the one, I went for because it was accredited, looked really professional and I just knew that once I started practicing, I’d feel confident if I was backed up by such a brilliant company.
I really love weights. I split my workouts into sections so one day I’ll do arms, then the next I’ll do legs then glutes etc.
The kind of workout that makes you want to come back for more. I like a mixture of weights and cardio, but not a workout where you physically can’t give anymore. Fitness for me is a lifestyle that you create to maximise enjoyment/contentment.
I wasn’t nervous, I was just excited. I didn’t really know what to expect, I’ve done some online learning before but not accredited courses, so I was a little apprehensive but just excited really.
I’d love to be able to fly, I think as I’ve got older, I just want to see more and more places and if I could just fly it would be a lot quicker!
