After 13 years in social housing, Sophie Tookey founded Posilivity, helping women aged 40–60 navigate perimenopause and midlife through sustainable, holistic changes to fitness, nutrition and mindset.
Sophie spent around 13 years working in social housing, working her way up from administrative assistant to associate director at Savills, all while juggling a full-time career, two young children, and a husband working shift patterns as a paramedic. Somewhere along the way, she realised she’d lost touch with who she was outside of work and motherhood.
A coaching course with the Institute of Leadership and Management gave her the time and space to properly reflect, and everything she’d ever been passionate about, including her lifelong vegetarianism and now veganism, suddenly clicked into a single direction.
Nutrition was already a passion of Sophie’s, so she specifically wanted a course that treated it as core rather than an afterthought. Future Fit’s Level 3 Personal Training, which included Level 3 Nutrition as standard, stood out for that reason, and she has since completed her Level 2 and 3 Pre and Postnatal qualifications, with Level 4 nearly finished and Level 5 next.
She credits the in-person workshops with making the difference, saying everything “clicked” once she was learning alongside other students and seeing different bodies perform the same exercises in a way no online video could teach. The in-depth portfolio work, built around real case studies, left her feeling genuinely ready to work with clients from day one.
Sophie’s business, Posilivity, takes a whole-woman approach, working mostly with women aged 40 to 60 juggling careers, caring responsibilities and family life, who consistently put themselves at the bottom of their own priority list. Rather than big lifestyle overhauls, she focuses on small, sustainable changes, and measures success through things like energy, sleep and how clients feel, not just weight or body composition.
Alongside her Future Fit training, she’s added CPD in suspension training, yoga and Reiki, and draws heavily on her own experience of postnatal body changes and early perimenopause symptoms to offer clients a genuinely personalised, lived-experience approach.
