At Future Fit Training, it’s the people behind our name who truly bring our values to life, and Nikki Tyrer is a shining example of what it means to be Fearless, Impactful, and Trusted. Not only is Nikki one of our incredible tutors, but she’s also just returned from the European Powerlifting Championships in Wroclaw, Poland, where she took 1st place in the under 56kg class. A huge achievement, and one we couldn’t be prouder to celebrate!
Nikki says, “The European Championships in Poland were an incredible experience- intense, supportive, and unforgettable. Stepping onto the platform with lifters from across the World was both nerve-wracking and inspiring. I had to dig deep, but the hard work paid off, and winning my class was such a proud moment. It was emotional, especially knowing how far I’ve come- both physically and mentally. That win wasn’t just about the numbers- it was a reminder of what’s possible with commitment, belief and the right team.”
Nikki’s journey into powerlifting began with a transformational moment. Watching her coach Nick train a group of strong, fearless women, she was struck by how powerfully they moved, not just physically, but emotionally too. The way they lifted heavy, took up space unapologetically, and stepped onto the platform with pride helped Nikki see what was possible and knew she wanted to be part of it. For Nikki, powerlifting was more than just a sport, it was a challenge to societal expectations, especially those placed on women, and an opportunity to find belonging, empowerment, and community. Despite being a beginner, the support of her team and the powerlifting community carried her through each new step – proof, she says, that anyone can get into powerlifting, and that just stepping onto the platform is a massive win in itself.
Nikki’s role at Future Fit has been a huge part of that journey. Working alongside passionate tutors and learners alike has sharpened her outlook, deepened her knowledge, and constantly reminded her why she fell in love with the fitness industry in the first place. She learns every day, not just from the courses and research, but from the students who walk through our (virtual and physical) doors. Seeing people grow in confidence, especially those who come in doubting themselves, mirrors her own journey as a lifter and a coach. It’s made her more reflective, more grounded in her values, and more determined to lead by example. She explains that constantly having to break down the “why” behind movement and technique keeps her sharp, and that motivation filters into her own training and lifting. Nikki now specialises in strength training, pre and post-natal fitness and nutritional coaching.
Looking back, Nikki admits she never imagined herself competing on a platform. “If you asked me three years ago if I’d ever do a powerlifting competition, I would’ve laughed in your face,” she says. But that fear was the very thing that pushed her forward. Her advice to those stepping into strength sports? Be patient, be brave, and trust yourself. “I truly feel alive when I try something that scares me,” she says. “It’s not about being fearless, it’s about being brave despite the fear.” She also highlights how important it is to let others in, to trust the people supporting you. Without her coach’s guidance and belief, she knows she wouldn’t be where she is today.
So, what’s next for Nikki? She says “This win has fuelled my motivation to keep pushing boundaries, both personally and professionally. I’d love to add to my total and hit some PB’s whilst also aiming to qualify for the Worlds one day- all while continuing to grow as a coach and educator. My goal is to always empower others, especially women, to believe in themselves and their strength- whether that’s in the gym or in everyday life.”
We’re incredibly proud to have Nikki as part of the Future Fit family. Her dedication to her students, her sport, and her own personal growth is nothing short of inspiring. She shows us every day what it means to be bold, to push past limits, and to show up, in the gym, in the classroom, and in life, with strength and purpose. We’re proud to stand beside Nikki – cheering her on, learning from her journey, and celebrating the impact she continues to make.
