My name is Jessica DePlasco, certified nutrition and weight management coach, lifestyle and weight management advisor within the NHS, wellness coach, mother of 2 beautiful boys and US ex-pat living in the Cotswolds.
My goal is to make a positive impact on the world by setting an example of what a healthy and vibrant lifestyle looks like.
Anyone at any age can create changes in their lives. Through my own personal health journey and transformation, my clients can trust that I understand first-hand the struggles of committing to sustainable lifestyle changes can be; work, family commitments, children, demanding schedules and more.
By building habits around what working to improve their health adds to their lives; energy, better mood, confidence, reduced pain and inflammation, and longevity, I help clients to improve their relationship with food, ditch the endless cycle of yo-yo diets and reach their goals in a positive and sustainable way.
The advice that I can give to others looking to join the industry is to START! Start scared, start unsure, and start taking action before you feel ready. Learn from mistakes, gain knowledge and advice from others who have found success in the industry, and use your voice for good. My passion for health, wellness, and nutrition came later in life. After the birth of my second son and a few incredibly stressful years looking after my critically ill little boy, I was at a low point both physically and emotionally. I was exhausted, uncomfortable in my clothes, I was gaining weight fast, my skin was dull and dry, I was stressed and anxious, and I knew that something had to change. As a young woman, I was constantly chasing the latest diet fad, and at this point in my life, nothing that I was trying seemed to have any effect of change.
I realised that it was time to ditch the diet and make a fundamental shift in the way that I fueled my body and looked after my overall health and well-being.
I have since devoted my life to understanding how the body works, the importance of gut health, and how to build and sustain habits that I enjoy so that I can live a full and vibrant life. I became certified to coach nutrition so that I could share this passion and knowledge with others so that they, too, could learn to flourish.
I spent a lot of time researching where to attain certifications to coach nutrition as I had been on a huge personal health journey and was keen to be able to support others to find balance and improve their wellbeing too. I wanted a quality education with AFN certifications, but needed the flexibility to complete the courses alongside work and raising two small children.
The flexibility of Future Fit courses has been incredible, as I have been able to complete the courses in my own time. The student tutors are always available to hop on a call and support me when I have felt stuck, and the course information has been incredibly thorough and in-depth.
I feel I have been given an extremely well-rounded education and have been able to grasp not only information about nutrition but tools to help clients of all ages and backgrounds on their health and wellness journeys.
What I am most proud of through my personal and professional health and wellness journey has been the example I am setting for my two boys.
Completely changing careers in your 30s with small kids is a lot of work, but I believe to my core that I will be able to help so many people. My children watch their mother working hard to pursue her dreams and help others at the same time.
I hope to be an example to my boys of what is possible when you believe in yourself, have a huge dream, and never give up,
I worked at a Greek restaurant to help my way through my original university degree nearly 20 years ago and have been obsessed with the food ever since.
My absolute favourite food to cook is chicken souvlaki, and we make it nearly every week. Getting the seasoned chicken on the grill with homemade tzatziki sauce and loads of delicious grilled peppers, onions, courgette and aubergine is our spring/ summer time BBQ go-to when friends and family come round.

Growing up in Florida, the beach and the sea have always been a passion of mine. One thing I have always wanted to do is spend a week sailing the coast of Croatia. Weeks on the water looking at the beautiful landscape and mountainous coastline would be an experience of a lifetime.
