I have three small children and went through a rehab journey after three back-to-back pregnancies, which made me full of gratitude for my body, what it can do and how it can heal.
My focus with my PT clients is on improving functionality for daily life- getting stronger, improving balance, stamina, and posture, improving back pain, rebuilding the core after childbirth and combating menopause symptoms through exercise and nutrition.
I love helping my clients rediscover their energy and confidence and feel strong and able in their bodies. My PT clients tell me they appreciate my focus on what their body can do and how it feels rather than just the number on the scale.
My advice would be to go for it, be brave and follow your dreams. That said, don’t underestimate the amount of admin and background work needed to set up independently. Market research, account keeping, website building, marketing, managing enquiries etc. That side took a lot of my time in the first six months. But you can do it!Ali Davies
Throughout my life, I have always had active hobbies – Hockey, Rowing, Kayaking, Climbing, Rowing, Running, Yoga and many more. However, pregnancy and having babies put a break on my hobbies and my activity levels. I had three babies in 4 years, and the third was born just before covid lockdown 1. I turned to exercise to help me regain my sense of self when I didn’t recognise myself anymore! I built a home gym in the garage and slowly got fit again.
My ‘transformation’ led to friends and family asking for fitness and nutrition advice. That gave me the confidence to retrain as a personal trainer and nutrition coach.
Exercise helped me heal and regain my strength, confidence, and physical and mental well-being, and I wanted that for other women in a similar position.
I did specialist training in pre and post-natal exercise and have done additional training to also specialise in exercise for the peri-menopause and exercise for lower back pain.
I now do 1-2-1 personal training in Sandbach, run postnatal exercise classes, and run online nutrition coaching courses. I absolutely love it. Turning my hobby into a career has given me the best career satisfaction anyone could hope for.
I did a lot of research before I chose Future Fit Training for my study. I think it was the fact that Dame Kelly Holmes is an alumnus that clinched it; she’s a hero of mine!
I signed up for the level 4 Personal Training and Nutrition course. I passed the Nutrition Course, Levels 2 & 3 of PT and the pre-and postnatal exercise qualification. I am just waiting for my Exercise Referral and Lower Back Pain workshops. I loved the course. The best bits are the workshops where I’ve met some fascinating people from all different backgrounds who love fitness and are passionate about helping others improve their health. I also plan to do my Pilates qualification once this course is finished!
I am so proud of myself for starting my own business from scratch, marketing it, promoting it and building a strong client base in my local area. It’s been challenging, and I’ve suffered from imposter syndrome many times, but it’s made me a more confident person, and I love the job. Running sessions in my home gym is my happy place!
I make a lot of soup in my pressure cooker, loads of spices, garlic, ginger, onion and root veg. I batch cook and have it with sourdough and homemade houmous.
My advice would be to go for it, be brave and follow your dreams. That said, don’t underestimate the amount of admin and background work needed to set up independently. Market research, account keeping, website building, marketing, managing enquiries etc. That side took a lot of my time in the first six months. But you can do it!
I am proud to be part of the Future Fit community, it’s a lovely community of like-minded people, and the instructors and tutors are all knowledgeable and passionate about their subject.
I would love to go to Sweden and Finland. Both are beautiful; I love the snow and have friends from both countries who have told me about it and made me want to visit!
