England: https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus
Wales: https://gov.wales/coronavirus
Scotland: https://www.gov.scot/collections/coronavirus-covid...

Do we need to wear face masks for the course/assessment?

While face coverings are not required when exercising, you must wear face masks in accordance with your training venues guidelines (upon entering, moving between areas and leaving).

Do I have to clean the equipment after my client has used it, or should I get them to do it?

You should encourage the client to clean the equipment they use, as they need to get used to this habit for when they exercise solo. However, you can also ensure hygiene by doing this for them at times.

Can I perform Assisted Stretches at the moment?

Due to social distancing guidelines you will not be able to perform Assisted Stretches at this point in time. Therefore, you will need to find suitable alternative exercises to enable safe, effective and appropriate application for the client. And adjust your coaching style to utilise better verbal cues.

Can I take Blood Pressure readings at the moment?

It depends on the equipment you have available, or whether the client has their own equipment.

Due to social distancing regulations, you will not be able to perform the test. However, you can instruct the client to self-apply the test.

The issue comes with regard to the material the cuff is made from on the BP tester. If it is material, it cannot be used unless it is the client’s own as you cannot effectively clean it after use. If the cuff is made from vinyl, they can use it as it can be effectively cleaned after use.

Will my assessment/course still be going ahead?

You need to revisit the Student Update Area on the website regularly, as this is where we will update you on any changes to our training.

Equally, you should keep an eye on the current status and guidance from the government and contact your Training Co-ordinator for confirmation.

What about Spotting? How do we do this at the moment?

Due to social distancing guidelines you will not be able to perform spotting at this point in time. Therefore, you will need to find suitable alternative exercises to enable safe, effective and appropriate application for the client. And adjust your coaching style to utilise better verbal cues.

My client has dropped out of the assessment. it is this weekend/tomorrow, what can I do?

If you have had a last minute drop out due to COVID, injury or work commitments, you can bring a substitute participant. They must have a clear Par-Q, which will also need to be included in the portfolio, and have signed an Informed Consent form, also required in portfolio. They must also be capable of completing the original programme.

How can I get Body Fat % readings at the moment?

Due to social distancing guidelines you will not be able to take skinfold measurements or circumference measurements at the moment. However, you can teach the client to take circumference measurements themselves. You cannot self-test calliper skinfolds. The only other option would be to use Body Fat Analyser scales.

How do I complete the Reflections Diary? Should I include COVID regulations?

Please make sure you have viewed the Virtual Workshop Series for your course, this will have explained what is required for this document. However, this document is an observational and awareness document – what did you witness? Was it good or bad practice? How would you adopt or change what you saw into your personal practice?

You can gain the information you need from the Exercise, Welfare & Health course for Level 2, and from Lesson 2 of the Level 3 Exercise Programming & Coaching online course. You should include information about current COVID guidance and adherence.

Do I need to do the bridging document?

To find out if you need to complete this document, contact your Training Coordinator.

Can I take circumference measurements at the moment?

Due to social distancing guidelines you will not be able to take circumference measurements at the moment. However, you can teach the client to take circumference measurements themselves. The only other option would be to use Body Fat Analyser scales.

Can I bring someone else to the assessment? My original client has had to drop out due to COVID/Work/Injury.

Yes, You can. If you have had a last minute drop out due to COVID, injury or work commitments, you can bring a substitute participant. They must have a clear Par-Q, which will also need to be included in the portfolio, and have signed an Informed Consent form also required in portfolio. They must also be capable of completing the original programme.

Do I need to complete the new portfolio? My course was before lockdown, and I noticed there is a new section relating to A&P, do I need to complete this?

To find out whether you need to complete this document, contact your Training Coordinator.

Can I be remotely Assessed?

No, students can not be remotely assessed for any practical element of our courses. We have worked closely with our Awarding Organisations and the option being given currently is to delay practical assessments.

Will my certificates be delayed?

Under the current restrictions, the processing of certificates by the Awarding Organisations may be delayed. We assure you we are doing everything to mitigate this, however some delays may be unavoidable during these unprecedented times.

How will I get notified as to when I can book practical elements?

You can see a list of all the current dates and locations available to request via your Student Zone. These are planned to go ahead so long as no government restriction prevent the running of the practical element in question. If the date you book is subsequently postponed then read 'My course/assessment has been postponed, how will this be rescheduled?'

When will practical elements resume?

Unfortunately, at the moment, we can’t give a definitive answer as various factors are involved:

  1. Firstly, the Government needs to confirm when the national lockdown is ending.
  2. Secondly, which Tiers regions will fall into when it ends.
  3. Finally when our venues will re-open.

Our aim, however, is to re-start as quickly as possible after the lockdown end date.

My course/assessment has been postponed, how will this be rescheduled?

Our teams are preparing for a re-start now so, when we have a firm lockdown end date, all students affected by postponements will be contacted via email within 4 weeks to inform them of their new date booked.

Will my overall completion deadline be extended?

This will vary depending on the courses you have purchased.

If you are unable to continue your studies due to the current restrictions, we can look to extend your completion deadline by the period in which you are delayed. As this will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, if you believe you will no longer be able to adhere to the original completion deadline, please contact Student Support so that we can investigate your available options.

Can my portfolio be marked remotely?

Yes, we are currently setting up a process for portfolios to be marked digitally.

Students who have had their assessment day postponed will receive a specific email detailing how to submit their portfolios for marking. This is being completed in date order of assessments, please do not send in any work to be marked without first receiving our communication.

If I book a future date, can I defer from this Course/Assessment free of charge?

As all future bookings will be made with knowledge of the current pandemic, deferral fees may apply (please refer to your Terms and Conditions on your enrolment form for further details on this).

If there are extenuating circumstances, then please contact us as soon as possible so that we can look into your options. Please note that we may require evidence of your circumstances to fully consider all options.

The only online learning I have left requires a practical element as a prerequisite, what can I do?

So long as you have completed all your available e-learning, we may be able to release courses that require a prerequisite to enable you to continue studying. This will be looked at on a case-by-case basis as all our courses have different requirements. If this circumstance applies to you then please contact our Student Support department so that we can investigate your available options.

What will happen with February course/assessment dates?

A final decision on these will be made and all students affected will be informed via email.

I have a future date booked, how will I be notified if this is affected?

Decisions on future dates will be dictated by Government updates, so any changes will be communicated to all affected students via email as quickly as possible.
