Piloxing, the New Exercise Incorporating Pilates

Not only do you get the functional benefits of Pilates, you also get a high-intensity, heart pumping work out, too.

Piloxing was created by celebrity trainer, Viveca Jensen. Often times, the words Pilates and fun are not used in the same sentence. She set out to the turn that world upside-down and empower women while gaining functional strength through high-powered movement and a little sass thrown in, too! You can expect a few dance steps in there, as the exercises will all flow one right into the next.

In today's world, it's important to think outside the box in terms of your health and fitness. If you keep doing the same thing over and over again, your body is eventually going to get used to it. Or if you keep trying something that's not working for you and expecting different results, then it is definitely time for a change!

The program itself was designed with creativity and fitness in mind and has quickly taken off with celebrities around the world. The energy in the room is fun and more upbeat than your usual Pilates class, and the exercises are done in interval style, which has been shown to be effective at burning fat. Additionally, the exercises are also designed to sculpt and define muscles as well by wearing slightly weighted boxing gloves combined with the intense movements.

Boxing is known for bringing power and agility to the body, while Pilates provides grace and length through the muscles. If you've ever wanted to try boxing, but didn't want to end up battered and bruised, then incorporating Piloxing may be the right fit for you. This is the more 'polite' version of what a high-powered workout like boxing can be. Plus, it makes it accessible to all!

The benefits of adding Piloxing to your workout regimen (or, supplementing your regular Pilates) include enhanced cardiovascular health, muscle toning with out the bulk in all the right places (arms, glutes, core), and fat-burning in an upbeat, fun atmosphere. These high-energy classes are generally combined with fist-bumping beats and music you'd want to dance to so the class keeps moving. Never a dull moment in Piloxing!
