Heather Oakes School of Pilates
Heather fell backwards into fitness after working as a children’s entertainer teaching dance routines at birthdays and school discos. After seeing an advert for an exercise to music course in 1998 she never looked back. Heather has experience in every aspect of the fitness industry having worked her way up from lifeguard to swimming instructor, studio instructor to studio co-ordinator and fitness instructor to fitness manager.
Heather has never stopped learning, and in addition to her numerous fitness qualifications also gained
Heather has a passion for teaching, and loves sharing her experiences with those entering the fitness industry. Heather’s favourite career achievement has been writing and developing the Pilates Small Equipment course for Future Fit. Prior to that her most memorable role was 8 years as Studio Co-ordinator at the largest gym, in one of the largest cities in the UK.
My specialist area is Pilates, but I started as an aerobics instructor, then added step and circuits to my repertoire, then Body Pump, Body Attack, Body Jam, Body Balance and Body Combat, Spin, Aqua, GP Referral and Pre-Post Natal exercise. I have been learning, teaching and enjoying Pilates since 2002.
My Grandma said “If you enjoy what you do, it’ll never seem like work”. How right she was!
I got married in Las Vegas!
