Katie Farnden

"Exercise and nutrition is a way of life, although it can be challenging and stressful during competitions. It’s about finding the right balance, so it’s an ongoing process for me."
"The best piece of advice I have received is to ignore everybody else and focus on yourself because you are responsible for your own happiness."

Katie started teaching in gyms there when she was 17 years old and now teaches groups, classes and one-to-one sessions in both the public sector and private gyms. Katie also worked as a dancer and currently competes as a bikini fitness competitor.

What is your specialist area?

I teach a variety of classes but I love to teach Pilates. I specialise in teaching different levels of Pilates classes to a range of clients ranging from athletes to mixed ability levels.

What is your ethos?

I try to make my classes as interesting as possible and work clients to the best of their capabilities. I like to adhere to the original ideals of mat-based Pilates and adapt certain sequences or exercises to suit my client or class.  I teach in a relaxing style and setting to give people a comfortable yet challenging workout. I enjoy working with the flow and transitions of exercises and I encourage students to be imaginative with their programme designs and Pilates mind-set.

Tell us something personal about yourself

Bodybuilding is an art - your body is the canvas, weights are your brush and nutrition is your paint. We all have the ability to turn a self-portrait into a masterpiece.
