GB Skier Anna Vincenti starts her PT course

I started skiing at the age of 3 years old when my family took me on a ski holiday to La Plagne in France. I really enjoyed skiing and became a ski racer up until the age of 13 and then I found my passion for freesking while on a British Freeski Camp in Saas Fee. I fell in love with the sport straight away and ever since then I haven’t been able to stay away from the snow!

I used to ski at my local dry slope at least twice a week and once a week at the indoor ski slope at Snow Factor in Glasgow between trips to the mountains. I had my first World Cup appearance in New Zealand in 2013 where I finished 8th place. I then competed throughout the winter of 2014 on the World Cup scene and competed in contests like the Grand Prix in USA which I placed 16th and placed 11th in a World Cup in Switzerland.

Unfortunately, I picked up an ACL injury in the year of 2015 followed by a period of rehabilitation for 9 months. I returned to snow the season after and had the best season yet! I headed over to Laax in Switzerland where I was based for the season. I trained for the first two months before going back into competition. I competed in two competitions in Europe that year. I finished 2nd in a Europa Cup in St Anton and finished 4th in another Europa Cup in St Moritz.

During the rehab of my ACL, all I was able to do was go to the gym every day and I never once looked upon it as a chore. I loved seeing my progression while lifting: lifting heavier weights than the week before and picking up weights which were once so heavy that week by week started to feel so much lighter. This gives you an amazing feeling and it really does transfer over to my sport.

During this time, I realised that when my ski career comes to an end that embarking on a career in personal training is the path I want to take. I want to be able to help people reach their goals whether that be body goals or fitness goals. I get a lot of satisfaction from helping others achieve their targets and goals. During last summer, I worked as a football coach and seeing my kids progress each day and seeing the smiles on their faces when they learnt something new is what made it all worth it.

Throughout my life I have been travelling all over the world, I travel almost 7 months of the year, so being able to fit my studies around my busy lifestyle is important - the Personal Training qualification I get through Future Fit, will allow me to continue my travels as I can go abroad and be a Personal Trainer overseas.

I couldn’t be more stoked to get started with the course, I have heard nothing but great things about Future Fit, not only will I widen my knowledge within the gym but most importantly to be part of peoples lives and help them achieve their goals!
