Katie Bulmer-Cooke backs Future Fit Course
Katie Bulmer-Cooke is the Ambassador for Future Fit Training's PT Skills Gap Course to help professionals build better relationships with clients.
TOP personal trainer Katie Bulmer-Cooke has got behind a new training course designed to help fitness professionals build better relationships with clients and learn the skills needed to run – and sustain – a successful business.
The PT Skills Gap Programme has been devised by Future Fit Training in response to calls within the industry to boost skills and professionalism among personal trainers.
Research carried out by Future Fit Training, in conjunction with ukactive and CIMSPA, identified that knowledge and soft skills were often lacking among personal trainers – especially those who have followed ‘fast track’ courses where real person case study work and interaction with clients and colleagues was limited.
To address this, the programme comprises two elements; firstly to enable PTs to produce satisfied clients through behaviour change coaching and secondly to maximise their profits through training on how to build their fitness businesses.
Katie said: “We see so many technically good trainers leaving the industry very quickly because they are not armed with the skills to turn those technical skills into a business or long term success.
“For me, it is these skills that have helped me in my business, so it’s great Future Fit Training has created something that fills that gap. “
Katie also told Workout, the most important skill which has helped her run a successful business is marketing – knowing who your client is, how to target them and what language to use to put across your message – followed by customer service and the importance of knowing how to retain your clients and treat them well.
She added: “I’m especially taken by the Building Your Fitness Business element which I think is really lacking in our industry at the moment.
“There are lots of extremely talented PTs out there with immense knowledge and skills but they simply don’t know where to start when it comes to marketing, sales and managing a business.
“Personal training is a profession and it’s not enough just to be good at the technical stuff: you need the skills included in the PT Skills Gap Programme to realise your full potential.”
Future Fit Training managing director Rob Johnson added: “We know that Future Fit Training graduates are the preferred choice by many leading health club chains when it comes to recruitment, largely due to the fact that there are no gaps in their training.
“Now with our bespoke PT Skills Gap Programme, all personal trainers can bridge the gap between their text book training and the real world working with clients and colleagues to put them in a stronger position to attract employers and excel in their work.”
