"The thought of studying completely by e-learning was daunting but the e-modules were easy to use"
Linda Tarplett talks about her experience with Future Fit's nutritional e-learning courses
I have always enjoyed fitness and have been employed in healthcare all my working life, however, my interest in nutrition developed following my own personal experience of the need for a balanced diet. In 2004 I had a virus which affected my lymph nodes and lymphocyte production. As part of my recovery I reviewed my diet and found that ensuring I had a balanced diet increased my energy levels enabling me to return to health.
Having sparked an interest in nutrition I studied two short science courses in Human Nutrition and Managing Obesity which confirmed that Nutrition was an area of health that I wished to continue to study.
Why Future Fit?
I explored the avenues for study open to me and decided I needed a course that provided not only pure theory but also provided application to clients. Future Fit Training met both of these requirements and as an online course it allowed me the flexibility to study while also working full time.
My current role
I currently work as an Advance Nurse Practitioner in Orthopaedics at a major teaching hospital. In my role I regularly see how poor diet and the obesity epidemic impact on peoples’ health and my Advanced Diploma in Nutrition and Weight Management has enhanced my knowledge base for the counselling aspects of my role.
I am planning a second career in nutrition while continuing with my present role in healthcare. I will be starting my own consultancy as a Nutrition Adviser, Nutri-Jnana, in 2014.
My Top Student Tip
Do not be scared of the technology! The e-modules were easy to use and the support from the Future Fit technology team meant that any difficulties were soon rectified.
