Love your job!
A UK study has shown that health and fitness
workers are among the most satisfied with their
jobs.
A survey, published in the Industrial Relations Journal, ranks 81 occupations defined by the UK Standards Occupational Classification (2000) by how satisfied employees feel in their job.
People working in the fitness and sports industry ranked number eight in the list of most satisfied employees. The survey was conducted by Professor Michael Rose from the University of Bath and was funded by the Economic & Social Research Council.
This research
follows hot on the heels of City & Guilds research
stating that the fitness industry is one of the fastest
growing industries in the UK and will continue above
average growth for the next 15 years. Fitness
professionals can also expect a rise in salary/fees of
around 7% over this time which is double the national
average, so there has never been a better time to become a fitness professional.
"This is great news for the industry,” said Jean-Ann Marnoch, executive director of CMYQ, an exercise and fitness awarding body. “I believe the high job satisfaction comes from dealing directly with the public and being able to make an effective and measurable difference to an individual’s life.
“People in the industry are also constantly aware of their own health and fitness levels, ensuring professionals within the industry get the most from their own lives as well as positively affecting the lives of others.”
