Format

You will start with an interactive e-learning course followed by a 2-day practical course which includes a practical assessment.

Content

Through the e-learning and practical course, you will learn the following:

  • How back pain is treated and the scientific evidence for the effectiveness of common treatments including, medication, manual therapy, psychotherapy and exercise
  • How to work as part of a multidisciplinary team in the management of clients’ low back pain
  • The anatomy of the spine and its associated structures in relation to back pain
  • The different types of low back pain and their diagnosis
  • The motivational processes, models and techniques used with lower back pain clients to encourage adherence to long term beneficial lifestyle changes
  • The practical exercise prescription for low back pain

You will be able to:

  • Extend your reach in the public and private sector working with a range of healthcare professionals
  • Increase your earning potential as a specialist personal trainer
  • Benefit from the most in-depth and up-to-date training and materials available

The assessment consists of worksheets, question papers, a formative practical assessment and review as well as a case study.

You will receive a Level 4 Low Back Pain Exercise Specialist certificate from VTCT and if you are REPs registered, 20 CPD points.
