Diploma Introduction
Pilates is a series of controlled movements designed to increase flexibility, tone and strengthen the body and focus the mind. Developed in the 1920s by Joseph Pilates, pilates is now one of the most recognised and popular forms of exercise - simply because it is safe and enjoyable for people of all ages and degrees of fitness.
As a result of its growing popularity, demand for professionally qualified Pilates teachers is high. A career teaching Pilates is incredibly rewarding and because it’s so versatile, it can be adapted for use in other sports and training programmes. Ice skaters, footballers and gymnasts regularly use Pilates methods to enhance their core stability and strength.
