As an Advanced Personal Trainer
An employed Personal Trainer can expect to earn in the region of £30,000 per year and as a self-employed Personal Trainer you could charge anything from £20 to £50 per hour. High profile Personal Trainers have been known to charge anything from £50 to £100 per hour.
As a Nutrition Specialist
You will usually be self employed and can earn between £20 and £40 per hour working on a 1-2-1 basis or up to £80 per hour working with small groups. Working as a Nutrition Specialist is so versatile you can also attract new clients to top up your current income or offer further services to existing clients you teach in other areas such as Personal Training or Pilates.
As a Pilates Teacher
As they are high in demand, becoming a Pilates Teacher is a very lucrative career, with one Mat Pilates class earning a Teacher between £30 to £50 per hour (London) or £20 to £30 per hour (rest of UK). When you think of how many classes you could fit into a week, and the enjoyment you get from your work, it really is a great career move!
As a Studio Professional
For a 1-hour Exercise to Music class working for a gym, you can earn approximately; £30 to £40 per hour (London), £15 to £30 per hour (rest of UK). If you hire your own hall or studio you can charge £3.50 to £6 per person, so for a class of 15, that would be £50 to £90 per class.
Do I Need Any Experience
You don’t need any previous experience to start this diploma; just a love of fitness, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. We’ve designed the course to give you the perfect foundation to begin your career as a fitness professional.
It would be to your advantage if you are familiar with working out in a gym and have participated in different types of exercise to music classes, such as aerobics, body pump or step.
If you are thinking of setting yourself up as a self-employed personal trainer or exercise to music instructor, we strongly recommend that you obtain Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training.
Certification
Successful completion of this diploma will lead you to a City & Guilds qualification and entry at Level 3 on REPs.
