Course Introduction

Core muscles of the body are those that sit within the torso and are the base foundation for all body movement. In order to qualify as a fitness professional you will need to fully understand these muscles and their functions, as well as how to coach your customers in how to exercising them properly while preventing injury and improving sports performance. This one day practical workshop prepares you for this task, giving you the sound understanding of these muscles, plus furnishing you with the knowledge and skill needed to prescribe safe, effective and challenging torso exercises for your clients no matter their level of fitness or ability.

Course Format

This is a 1-day practical workshop.

Course Content

The course covers:

  • Anatomy and kinesiology of the torso
  • Exercise and its role in muscle balance and posture
  • Core strength and stability exercises and their practical application
  • Techniques for developing a client’s body awareness
  • Techniques of adaptation and progression in torso training
  • The use of equipment such as gym/stability balls, benches and steps
Entry Requirements

A Level 2 Exercise to Music, Gym Instructor or Mat Pilates Fundamentals qualification.

Assessment

You will be appraised on what you have learned in the workshop by means of a short multiple choice examination, covering what you have been taught during the day.

Certification and Credits

After completing this workshop you will be awarded the Future Fit Training Torso Training Certificate, also accredited by City & Guilds.

You will also receive 20 REPs CPD points.
