Course Overview
Specialists trained in exercise prescription now help manage or improve the conditions suffered by patients through exercise referral. Taking this course can signifi cantly increase your earning potential as a personal trainer, offering the opportunity to take on referrals from GPs in order to help clients manage different conditions and diseases.

Course Format
This is a 3-day theory and practical workshop with pre-course reading.
Course Content
The course covers:

How to develop an exercise referral scheme

Physical activity, health and well-being

Health and lifestyle screening

Fitness testing

Exercise prescription

Orthopaedic diseases such as arthritis and osteoporosis

Cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension

Diabetes Type 1 and Type 2

Pulmonary diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

The overweight and obese client

Pharmacological management
Entry Requirements
You will need to hold a recognised qualification in Exercise and Fitness at Level 3 (including Level 3 Anatomy and Physiology and Nutrition and Weight management).
Assessment
The assessment consists of worksheets, question papers, a formative practical assessment and review and a case study.
Certification and Credits
After completing the workshop and assessment you’ll be awarded the Future Fit Training Level 3 Certificate in Exercise Referral which is accredited by Active IQ and 20 REPs CPD points. If you are already registered with REPs at Level 3, your certificate will be amended to include Exercise Referral as a special category of registration.
