Dave Street - Advanced Personal Trainer Diploma

Dave Street is used to life in the fast lane as a member of the British bobsleigh team. How did he replace the adrenaline of the slopes in the workplace? With a career in fitness...

"I'm a member of the British bobsleigh team and an adrenaline junkie. I love the feeling of throwing myself down a tunnel of ice at speeds of up to 95 miles per hour in a toboggan, just inches off the ground - it's like being in the biggest, fastest rollercoaster in the world, but nothing's holding you in!

It's vital that I keep in peak physical condition. Training for the sport is a lot like athletics, focusing mainly on short sprints, power weights and plyometrics (a type of exercise training designed to produce fast, powerful movements) - anything that will generate speed and power and prepare me for intense activity.

So the next logical step for me was to take my training to the next level and help others by becoming a Personal Trainer. I'm taking the Advanced Personal Trainer Diploma with Future Fit Training and it's brilliant. The team is great and genuinely care about my progress on the course and I try and keep in touch with them as much as I can with news about my bob-sleigh race results.

Other than passing all of the modules in my training programme, my ultimate ambition is to be in one of the crews for the 2 sleds that go to the Olympics in 2010 - that would be fantastic!"
