Choreography and Conditioning

This course is designed for the qualified Exercise to Music Instructor wanting to enhance their teaching and communication skills, and develop new types of classes. It introduces the use of resistance equipment into Exercise to Music classes.

Overview

This practical workshop is designed to develop your teaching skills by providing you with the knowledge to develop more advanced styles of choreography and introduce the use of resistance into a class setting. You will be able to learn how to set up and run all types of studio-based conditioning and resistance classes using a range of resistance equipment. Master class and choreography handouts are provided along with a comprehensive workshop manual.

Why should I take this course?

The course is creative, interactive and great fun. The aim is to provide you with additional teaching skills and knowledge to plan and deliver many different types of resistance-based sessions for the studio. Also, this course provides additional knowledge to enhance your experience and skills to be able to design and develop different types of choreographed group exercise sessions – this is essential for all group exercise instructors so that they can vary their classes.

2-day practical workshop.

Course content

On the workshop you will learn the following:

  • health and safety guidelines
  • developing skilful choreography by building up routines from base moves
  • using music to help structure routines and sequences
  • choreography ideas to help build effective balanced routines
  • enhancing teaching skills by investigating a number of different learning curves and variations
  • enhancing communication skills, voice projection, effective verbal and visual cueing, class motivation and interaction
  • improving body awareness and movement quality
  • theory behind the benefits of resistance training: posture improvement, fat loss, muscular strength and endurance, toning, and aerobic conditioning
  • class formatting, enabling you to devise numerous studio resistance classes from traditional 'Legs, Bums and Tums' classes to group free-weight training classes.
Entry requirements

Level 2 Exercise to Music qualification.

Certification and credits (REPs)


After completing this workshop you will be awarded the Future Fit Training Choreography and Conditioning Certificate. You will also receive 16 REPs CPD points.
